Game Instantly Crashes upon attempting to join. [FIXED]

I'm posting this in hopes that all the people who are having a similar problem can post here as well. Instead of making a million different posts. Just one very detailed post towards this problem - Hopefully to find a fix with someone.


My Specs first off:

Now - Here is a visual of the Step by Step in the conflict as well as my DxDiag and Event logs since ive been waiting on an email for about 2-3 days now.


Joining a normal solo game - It seems to load properly, The Console runs for a split second and immediately closes. Afters wards-
This happens, it stops responding and ends up needing to be closed. To no avail restarting the game or reinstalling has helped thus far. (See below for the list of my different attempts)


I have emailed this before and was told that it may just be a simple freezing and to read an article about it - http://support.robotentertainment.com/hc/en-us/articles/205006375-During-the-game-it-crashes-or-freezes-What-should-I-do-

However I had already previously done all of these. I then provided my DxDiag and Event information to which I have not been given a responde in about an entire 24hrs.

The Steps I have already taken are:
Restart Computer.
Reinstall both steam game and Gameforge version and Restart.
Looked for updating drivers Mainly GPU.
Downloaded DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) Then Restarted.
Downloaded and used CCleaner to clean registry.
Tried lowering the settings (although I did play about 2-3 times fine before this started happening).
Closed out nearly everything except steam or gameforge.
Disabled firewall.
Tried to launch both games as administrator.
Unplugged most non-essential USB's.
Can't be the specs of my computer.

- (What helped me): 
1. Close the game. 
2. Navigate to the Directory OMDU is installed. (If you are using Steam this is: [drive]:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\OrcsMustDieUnchained) 
3. [drive]\Documents\My Games\Orcs Must Die Unchained. 
4. There are configuration files here they all start with Spitfire, Please delete them all. After removing those, the game should replace them automatically (after Step 5). - note: (do not delete any other files or try to use CCleaner at this point)
5. Reinstall your game
6. See if the game works correctly. If this doesn’t work for you, it would be greatly appreciated if you can send in any newly created log and dump files. - See Below

Thanks to a lot of the people in this thread who've sent in tickets, we've identified that there is a resource conflict that crops up right before or right during hero select for some specific users. 

You can identify if this error is happening to you if:

1. You crash right around hero select.
2. There is a crash dump located here timestamped from when this happened:  [Drive]:\OMDU\Dashboard\Bin\SpitfireDashboard_Data\unreal***.dmp

We're working to identify how that conflict gets started so we can get this fixed for those it affects. (The logs everyone's provided will help us dig through that.)

In the meantime, if this error is happening to you, we recommend deleting your [drive]:\Documents\My Games\Orcs Must Die Unchained directory and then reinstalling. This will reset the configuration files that result from the issue. 

If you continue to experience issues, then it's likely something else in your case.     Did we respond to your ticket? I'm not seeing it in the support system here at Robot and GF didn't see it. But maybe I asked the wrong person?

    and that was yesterday, have had this problem for about 4-5 days now, any update would be nice.. feel like i'm missing out on a good game! haha.

  • I just sent off mine. I was playing, then it just stopped working... I can't get on any online matches. I was having soooo much fun. :'(

    I have that same problem. The game was working fine but after like 7 hours of game play it started crashing on the loading.

  • Update: I have gotten a answer asking if I had tried certain troubleshooting things (I had already said I had tried), and tying to reinstalling the game.... no help. JEEEEEZZZZZ
  • I have been getting this exact same thing. It happened around the time of me making my game fullscreen windowed. I was playing for 2-3 days without issues then suddenly I was unable to connect to or reconnect to any games without getting the crash. This isn't going to be very helpful but I was able to fix the issue simple by restarting. Which leads me to believe that maybe, there was a process running in task manager that I ended which this game relies on ad possibly not having that process running was stopping this game from connection to a server.

    Everything is fine now for me once again.
  • Yeah its been about a week for me and still no solution in sight, Restarting is a pretty simple fix and thus alot of people should try that first however for me personally that does not work. I've actually even repaired my download for windows 10 and tried updating drivers - still no go, so im sort of stumped.

    WinWin one of the other devs told us to try this and it doesn't work we need a "Resolve" that 100% works.

    sent my logs since last monday.. still no reply from an actual technician just a bunch of messages that its been "forwarded" to them.. looks a little unprofessional at this point guys.

    a similar problem started for me the other day and is recurring tonight it seems to happen at the same hours

    anytime :). For anyone having this problem i'll post a solution I get as soon as I get a reply, in the mean time I suggest making your own tickets and hope for the best!
